Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert an animated GIF to MP4?
Choose a GIF, set the start time and a duration of up to 30 seconds, then choose maximum dimension and frame rate. Convert and download the silent H.264 MP4.
What are the limits?
Upload a GIF up to 50 MiB with no more than 16 megapixels per frame and 8192 pixels per side. Export up to 30 seconds at a time. MP4 output is limited to 80 MiB; use a shorter clip or smaller dimensions if needed.
Can I convert a URL?
This tool accepts uploaded files only.
Does MP4 keep GIF transparency?
No. MP4 output is opaque and contains no audio.
What happens if I choose a duration longer than the source?
The export ends at the end of the source. It does not repeat the input to fill the requested duration.
Will the MP4 repeat like my GIF?
The converter reads one pass of the GIF and ignores its loop setting. It does not repeat the animation to fill the requested duration. Looping the exported MP4 depends on the player or site where you use it.
Will the MP4 file be smaller than the GIF?
It can be, but there is no guaranteed size reduction. Motion, source quality, output dimensions and frame rate affect the result. Download the MP4 and check its actual size.
Is the GIF converted locally?
No. Conversion uploads your GIF to the server. Save the temporary MP4 download promptly.
What happens in a four-second GIF conversion example?
For a 640 × 360 GIF with a four-second animation, set Start time to 1, Duration to 10, Maximum dimension to 480 and Frames per second to 15. A checked sample exported a 480 × 270 H.264 MP4 lasting three seconds with no audio. The requested ten seconds did not repeat the GIF; the export ended at the end of one source pass.
Why is my video shorter or smaller than the settings suggest?
Duration is capped by the remainder of one GIF animation pass. The maximum dimension fits the source inside that size without enlarging it, and MP4 dimensions are rounded to even pixels for encoding. A higher frame rate changes frame sampling, not the length of the animation or the amount of original detail. Check playback after export.
