Layers for Every Detail
Combine editable groups, images, text, vector shapes, Bezier paths, paint layers, and linked smart objects. Preserve source contents through affine transforms, perspective corners, and 16-point Bezier warps.
Color and Photo Adjustments
Use live adjustment layers for brightness, contrast, hue, saturation, lightness, levels, curves, invert, threshold, and posterize. Add drop shadow, stroke, color overlay, and outer glow as editable layer effects. Apply editable smart-filter stacks for invert, brightness/contrast, curves, box blur, Gaussian blur and unsharp mask, with ordering, visibility, opacity and blend controls.
Selections and Retouching
Select rectangles, ellipses, freehand outlines, or matching color regions. Combine, invert, and feather selections; paint with soft brushes, clone pixels, fill regions, and draw gradients.
Crop, Resize, and Transform
Crop a composition, resize the document, rotate it in 90-degree steps, or flip it horizontally and vertically. Undo and redo changes as you work.
Image and Project Downloads
Export PNG, JPEG, WebP, or an editable PSD retaining supported groups, text, vectors, embedded smart sources, perspective/custom mesh warps, filter stacks, effects, adjustments, clipping, fill opacity, and masks. Native projects also retain selections and original raster transforms.
Private Browser Editing
Image loading, editing, project saving, and image exports run on your device. Your selected photos are not uploaded to a processing server.
How to Use the Advanced Photo Editor
- 1
Open an image or supported layered PSD, create a blank canvas, or reopen a native Zutilium project.
- 2
Select regions with Marquee, Oval, Lasso, or Wand. Combine selections and create a layer mask when you want to hide pixels.
- 3
Add styled text, editable vectors, images, or paint. Convert layers into linked smart objects and edit their embedded contents.
- 4
Add live color adjustments and layer effects. Crop, resize, rotate, and use undo or redo to review your changes.
- 5
Save an editable Zutilium project, then export PNG, JPEG, WebP, or editable PSD.
What people use this tool for
- Combine product photography and text into a promotional image.
- Create a layered social media graphic or video thumbnail.
- Adjust a photo's color and crop before sharing it.
- Add annotations and brush marks to screenshots or illustrations.
- Save a composition as an editable project and finish it in another session.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which image files can I open?
Open PNG, JPEG, WebP, standard TIFF, and supported PSD files. Images are limited to 30 MiB and PSD documents to 90 MiB. TIFF opens its first 8-bit raster page; camera RAW and BigTIFF are unsupported. PSD compatibility is described below.
Can I work with layers?
Yes. Images, text, vectors, smart objects, paint and adjustment layers stay editable inside nested groups. Group isolation, visibility, opacity, masks, transforms and clipping control composition. Fill opacity changes source content separately from effects. Pixel tools require rasterization for vectors and smart objects; their masks remain paintable. Select multiple layers with the checkboxes, Ctrl or Command-click, or Shift-click for a range. Select all and Clear manage the layer selection. Duplicate, Delete and Group selected apply to the selected stack.
How do I merge layers?
Merge selected combines selected visible siblings into one image layer. Merge down combines the active layer with the sibling below. Merge visible combines visible root layers while keeping hidden layers; Flatten image creates one image layer and removes hidden layers. Undo restores editable originals. Merges that would change the composition or discard hidden group contents are rejected with an explanation.
How do selections affect editing?
Choose a rectangular, elliptical, lasso, or magic-wand selection. Shift adds, Alt or Option subtracts, and Shift plus Alt intersects. Pixel edits affect the selected area. The animated boundary is a separate display guide and never becomes image pixels. Deselect or Ctrl / Command D clears the selection; Escape cancels a selection gesture or clears a completed selection.
How do smart objects and vector paths work?
Convert a layer to a smart object, then open Edit contents. Save contents & return updates linked instances. Warp edits four perspective corners or 16 Bezier controls; Smart filters retains an ordered stack without changing source pixels. Duplicate preserves the source link; New smart object copy creates an independent source. Vectors remain editable through Nodes or Edit vector and supported PSD saves.
How do effects and adjustment layers work?
Effects adds editable shadow, stroke, color overlay, and glow to a layer. New adjustment layer changes the visible layers below without overwriting their original pixels. Its mask, opacity, blend mode, and clipping option control the result. Edit adjustment reopens its settings. Flatten bakes the visible result when needed.
How do I use the clone tool?
Select Clone, hold Alt or Option, and click a source point. Then paint another area to copy pixels from that source. Brush size, opacity, and hardness control the stroke. Pixel tools respect the current selection and locked layers cannot be edited.
How do I keep an editable copy of my work?
Save a native Zutilium JSON project to retain all supported native controls and selections. PNG, JPEG and WebP flatten the composition. PSD preserves supported editable groups, text, vectors, embedded smart objects, warps, filters, effects, adjustments, clipping and masks. Some transformed vectors become editable smart sources to preserve source sampling; raster transforms are saved in pixels.
Does this editor open Photoshop PSD files?
Supported 8-bit RGB and grayscale PSD files retain raster layers, nested pass-through or isolated groups, clipping, fill opacity, uniform point text, solid vector paths, embedded smart sources, perspective/custom 4×4 Bezier warps, six smart-filter types, seven adjustments, four effects and masks. Other warp presets, quilt or folded meshes, smart-filter masks and unsupported operators, mixed/wrapped/path text, outer PSB and high-bit-depth workflows are rejected with an explanation.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The editor decodes your photos, renders your changes, and creates downloads locally in your browser. Save your project before closing the page if you want to continue later.
Can the exported image keep transparency?
PNG and WebP exports support transparency. JPEG does not support transparency, so choose an export background color for transparent areas.
How can I reverse an edit?
Use Undo to return to an earlier document state and Redo to restore an undone change. Saving a project preserves your layers and document, but does not preserve the undo history.
What are the editor's size and layer limits?
Images can be up to 30 MiB. A document can have up to 16 million pixels, with each side up to 8,192 pixels. Use up to 128 layers and 64 million pixels across layer and mask canvases. Project imports can be up to 90 MiB. Undo and redo retain up to 12 states within a 128 MiB memory budget; larger edits can reduce the available history.
Why can very large images feel slower?
The editor uses your browser's memory and graphics capabilities. Large images, many layers, and a long editing session require more memory. Resize a document or use fewer layers when your device struggles.
