Frequently Asked Questions
Can I upload another format?
This page accepts JPG and JPEG and always creates PNG. Image Converter provides other input and output choices.
Does converting JPEG to PNG restore quality?
No. It cannot restore detail lost through earlier JPEG compression, and this implementation can quantize colors during PNG encoding.
Will the PNG have a transparent background?
JPEG does not contain an alpha channel. Choosing Transparent does not remove an existing background or make an opaque JPEG transparent.
Will the PNG be smaller than the JPG?
Not necessarily. PNG and JPEG use different encodings, and output size depends on image content, dimensions, and the selected quality.
What is the upload limit?
The default limit is 30 MiB for one file. Check the upload area for the current limit. The server upload ceiling is 100 MiB per file; file complexity and processing time can also limit conversion.
Where are files processed and when are they removed?
This tool uploads files to Zutilium's server for processing. After a successful conversion, uploads are scheduled for deletion after about one minute and generated downloads after about ten minutes. Cleanup runs periodically, so removal is not immediate. Save your result promptly.
