Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert an .md file to PDF?
Open a UTF-8 .md or .markdown file, or paste Markdown into the editor. Check the live preview, choose paper settings and click Export PDF. Download the searchable PDF and keep a Markdown source copy for future edits.
Does my Markdown leave the browser?
Editing and live preview run locally. Export PDF uploads the current Markdown and embedded images for server conversion; the PDF download is temporary. The draft is kept in this tab's session storage when available. Download Markdown to keep a local source copy.
Which Markdown features are supported?
Headings, bold and italic text, strikethrough, ordered and unordered lists, task lists, blockquotes, tables, fenced code, horizontal rules, and links. Raw HTML is displayed as text. Custom CSS, scripts, diagrams, and LaTeX math rendering are not supported.
Can I include images?
Use Insert image to embed a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or GIF from your device. Each inserted file can be up to 1 MiB, and the complete Markdown must stay within 2 MiB. Remote image URLs are not fetched; replace them with an embedded image. GIFs appear as still images in the PDF.
Will page breaks match the preview?
The live preview shows a continuous document using the export's fonts and styles. The PDF applies your selected paper size and margins. Use the Page break button to start a new page at a chosen point; export to check final pagination.
What are the limits?
Markdown uploads and pasted content are limited to 2 MiB. PDF exports support up to 100 pages and 20 MiB. Very large tables or documents may need to be split. Save your Markdown before closing the tab.
Can I render Mermaid diagrams or LaTeX math?
There is no Mermaid or LaTeX renderer. Diagram or math source remains text or code. You can insert a local raster image of a finished diagram using Insert image.
Should I export PDF or Word?
PDF is useful when you want a document readers can view with fixed page layout. Use Markdown to Word when the recipient needs editable DOCX headings, lists and tables. Check the exported file because pagination depends on the output format.
